Seward Neighborhood – Franklin & 23rd Ave South Shooting Incident

Seward Neighborhood – Franklin & 23rd Ave South Shooting Incident

In response to the shooting that occurred on Franklin Avenue Inspector Gerold would like for the community to know the following.

As a neighbor and Precinct Commander I am very concerned about this shooting and the community’s reaction.  This shooting was domestic related; shooter was the cousin of the victim and is in custody.  This was not random and is unrelated to other crime. Officers on scene did a great job of gathering information that led to the arrest and we appreciate the witnesses that provided information.

While I understand the concerns, the worst thing we can do is avoid Franklin Ave.  A strong presence of good people going about their business and “owning the street” greatly reduces the chances that the negative elements can operate on the street.
